    Dear Overland Trail Families,
    We hope you are enjoying a wonderful summer!  Currently, we are examining student assessmentdata from last spring’s MAP/NWEA/TCAP testing.  We use this literacy and math data to place students in the appropriate core content and intervention classes so all students can have a successful year.  We are also planning our summer registration process forincoming students, please notice the hours of registration below.
    Student registration for all grades is as follows:
    July 30thfrom 7:30 to 12:00 PM
    July 31stfrom 2:00 to 7:30 PM
    During registrationyou will be able to:
    1. Pay your student class fee of $20.00 which includes your OTMS planner, student ID, halllocker user fee, and locker padlock. 
    2. Visit with our music instrument representative from Flesher-Hinton for any music needs.
    3. Purchase physical education uniforms for $15.00 each. 
    4. Pay any outstanding fees/fines. 
    In addition, you may access the OTMS website (www.overland.sd27j.org)for school supply lists, athletic forms, district calendar, and important school information.  A separate check can be used to set up lunch accounts for the school year. School lunches will be $2.70 and breakfast will be $1.95.  For families who are interestedin free and/or reduced lunch applications, we will have the forms on hand.
    To pay student fees and lunch accounts with a credit card, visit the district website at(www.sd27j.org). Using your Infinite Campus user name and password, you can pay fees under, “Online Payment School Fees/Lunches”.  Please know that we will have our computers available to you in our library.
    School pictureswill be taken during registration, please have your student dress accordingly.  The picture will be used for their student ID and yearbook photo.  Students unable to attend registration will have their picture taken in August once school is in session.
    The middle schools have been granted an assessmentday similar to the elementary schools for this year.  Overland Trail’s assessment day is on Monday, August 18.  Select students will be invited through the mail to completeliteracy and math assessments.  Through these assessments, we will place students in the appropriate classes for the school year. 
    The firstday of school for our sixth graders and new to middle school 7thgraders is Tuesday, August 19.  The first day for seventh and eighth graders is Wednesday, August 20.  School hours are from 7:30 AM to 2:40 PM.  Students are not to arrive to school before 7:10 AM; OTMS provides student supervision at this time.  Student scheduleswill be distributed the first day of school.
    Early Release Wednesdays, everyWednesday we will dismiss students at 1:25 PM. We will use this time for teacher professional development and collaboration.  We are very excited about this opportunity to work as professionals as we continue to advance student achievement at OTMS!
    Athletics willbe offered at OTMS this year.  Please review the attached flyer for complete information. Please note that the participation fee is $75.00 and the mandatory fundraiser is $25.00.  NEW policy for this school year, the $25.00 fundraiser must be paid before yourstudent can practice.
    Please mark your family calendars for Tuesday,August 26, for BACK-TO-SCHOOLNIGHT, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. You will be able to meet your student’s teachers in an informal and relaxed atmosphere.  This is always a great time for all!
    Please plan on attending registration.  You will have the opportunity to update personalinformation including your email address, which is of great importance as we continue to communicate to our families electronically. If you are unable to attend registration, stop by the office between 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM beginning on August 1st.  Please callthe school office at 303-655-4000 if you have any questions.
