    Brighton School Resource Officer will talk to parents about Internet Safety on Nov. 28

    Brighton Police Officer Justin Stadler will talk to parents about Internet Safety and Social Media on Wednesday, November 28 at 6:30 p.m. in the 27J District Training Room, at 80 S. 8th Ave. in Brighton. Officer Stadler is the School Resource Officer for the Innovations and Options campus. The event is part of a Parent Informational Series offered by the Innovations and Options high school campus. The presentation is called, “Internet Safety and Social Media: What You Need To Know.” Through this presentation, Officer Stadler will help parents and guardians to understand the good, the bad and the ugly of Internet use, and how to use social media in a healthy way. Parents will learn what apps to be aware of, and how to manage screen time. This presentation is free and open to the public and parents of students of all ages are invited to attend.   • 27J Schools employees and business partners recognized for their efforts to make the four-day week a success!

    27J Schools moved to a four-day student contact week this year and while the transition is still in its infancy, local businesses and 27J employees are getting behind the District’s plan. Businesses have embraced Mondays by providing additional programming and discounts for families and students. District faculty and staff are rising to the occasion by taking advantage of the opportunities provided by the four-day week through collaboration to provide the best educational opportunities for our students.   • Brighton High students and teacher to be recognized at National Scholastic Press Association and Journalism Education Association national convention

     

    Brighton High School Instructional Coach and Reflections Yearbook Advisor Justin S. Daigle has achieved the Certified Journalism Educator renewal status from the Journalism Education Association (JEA). Daigle will be honored November 3, 2018 at the fall JEA/NSPA national convention in Chicago, Illinois.

     

    High school senior and yearbook Editor-in-Chief Samantha DeMers and 2018 graduate Will Satler are National Scholastic Press Association (NSPA) finalists in three categories:

    • Best Use of Social Media Reporting (new category): William Satler
    • Best Use of Social Media Promotion (new category): Samantha DeMers and William Satler
    • Portfolio of the Year (new category): William Satler

     

    Both the finalists and the winners will be recognized at the JEA/NSPA Fall National High School Journalism Convention, Nov. 1-4, 2018 in Chicago. The top winners in each category will receive plaques and the finalists will receive certificates.

  • 27J Schools Demographic Update

    During the September 25 Board of Education meeting, Bob Templeton with Templeton Demographics presented information concerning the district enrollment growth trends. The presentation covered economic conditions in the Denver-metro area, enrollment growth and current and future residential development and growth. 

     

    Highlights include: new home sales in 27J have grown 30% in the past two years, groundwork is currently underway on approximately 10,900 lots within our District and enrollment in 27J is projected to reach over 22,000 by 2023. Demographic Update - September 2018

  • Brighton High’s Ted Halbert Named to Prestigious NEA Global Fellowship

    Brighton High English Literature and Theater teacher Ted (Edward) Halbert has been selected by the National Education Association (NEA) Foundation to participate in the 2019 Global Learning Fellowship (GLF). The NEA Foundation Global Learning Fellowship increases access to global training and experiences by providing global education professional development opportunities for K-12 public school educators.   • A familiar face at South Elementary will lead the school in 2018

    School District 27J is pleased to announce that former student and current South Elementary Assistant Principal Kristen Puzio has been selected to  take over as school Principal after Kay Collins retires at the end of the school year. Read more.
