Board of Education districts get minor changes
The 27J Schools Board of Education has completed some important tweaks to director district boundaries to make sure community members are getting the best board representation.
The board is required, per state law, to complete a review of director boundaries every four years to make sure they provide equal representation across districts as population changes. The board contracted with an independent third party firm to complete this review and provide proposed scenarios.
The board reviewed several scenarios and ultimately selected an option that, while offering a slightly higher difference in the average director district population, accomplished the following:
- Most closely aligned current director district boundaries
- Provided most compact boundaries as outlined in state law
- Did not change the districts of current directors
In 27J Schools, board directors represent specific districts but are elected by all district voters. These changes ensure fair governance and uphold the principle of equal representation for all families and community members within the 27J Schools boundaries.
