Community selects mascot, colors for new Rocky Vista High School
The votes are tallied and the 27J Schools community has selected a mascot and colors for the district's fourth comprehensive high school, Rocky Vista.
The school mascot will be the Storm and the school's colors will be purple and gray.
Nearly 4,000 votes were cast in November for four school mascot options - generated by Stuart Middle School students - and three school color combinations.
In the end, Storm edged out Bobcats while purple and gray narrowly beat purple and gold as the school's preferred colors.
Construction on Rocky Vista, located at 96th Avenue and Reunion Parkway in Commerce City, is ongoing with the school scheduled to open in fall 2027.
Work will now begin on the development of a school logo to be unveiled sometime in 2026.
