Talon Ridge Middle School Frequently Asked Questions

The construction of Talon Ridge Middle School, the district's sixth traditional middle school, was included as part of the 2021 Bond Program plan and originally envisioned as being needed as soon as 2026. However, some of the residential growth around this new school simply hasn’t moved as fast as expected. The district made the choice to complete construction of Talon Ridge to avoid higher construction costs but delay the opening to fall 2027.

Talon Ridge is a traditional district middle school and will be home to sixth- through eighth-grades.

While some initial programming and opportunities may be enrollment dependent, Talon Ridge is expected to offer the same learning and extra-curricular activities, such as athletics, as the district's other middle schools.

While the hiring of some key positions may take place sooner, the majority of staff hiring for Talon Ridge will begin in early 2027. Follow opportunities on our Work at 27J page. 

General district middle school hours are currently 8:25 a.m. to 4:25 p.m., Tuesday through Friday with some limited exceptions. While Talon Ridge's schedule will likely be similar, a final daily bell schedule will be determined by the principal in conjunction with school district leadership and will take into account factors such as bus transportation schedules.

The Retrievers was selected as the school mascot through a community vote. School colors and the unveiling of a school logo will take place later in 2026. 

The construction of this middle school was funded through a voter supported $515 million construction bond program approved by voters in 2021 that included the construction of several new schools and important improvements to existing schools and facilities.
