Accessibility Quarterly Report 06-30-2025
This report is a summary of progress made towards achieving digital accessibility by 27J Schools since the most recent Accessibility Quarterly Report published 3/31/2024. As stipulated by HB24-1454, the purpose of this report is to summarize progress and initiatives behind achieving accessibility for all students and employees at 27J Schools.
Overview
Since the previous report (03/31/2025), all 27J district and school websites and subpages have been reviewed using manual tools and automated scanning software to identify specific instances of non-compliance with WCAG 2.1 level AA accessibility standards. All known accessibility issues have either been remediated or, in isolated, specific cases, action plans have been implemented to achieve full accessibility in the coming year. Ongoing challenges include supporting content creators in creating accessible alternatives to traditionally inaccessible formats (pdfs of complex diagrams and informational graphics).
Progress to Date
Since HB 21-1110 passed, 27J has taken specific steps to ensure web content is accessible to all users. Highlights since the last update include:- Completion of department intakes (7) and accessibility remediation. With the exception of two financial summary documents, all known inaccessible material on the 27J website has been updated, replaced, or paired with alternative, accessible formating.
- Ongoing work - Finance (we are coordinating with department heads develop accessible versions of the next financial summary file)
- Additional training developed for new and existing card users to address accessibility requirements and applicability; directing purchases to district purchasing managers and ensuring vendor compliance.
- Developed and distributed accessibility training required for all school and district web editors. Topics include accessibility principles, purpose, and practical instruction to prevent creation of inaccessible content and display practices.
- Continued usage of audit reporting software to catch accessibility issues created by content editors.
- 27J Board of Education Meeting Minutes, Agenda and appendices: converted all legacy material subject to HB21-1110 to accessible HTML. From July 1, 2025, BoE materials will be hosted on BoardDocs in accessible format.
Next Steps
- Ongoing campaigns and training to support content creators in development and maintenance of accessible materials and implementation of accessibility best practices for all formats of electronic communication.
- Coordination with Procurement to implement vendor screening requirements mandating accessibility compliance.
- Continue to advocate for acknowledgment of accessibility in 27J district policy.
Conclusion
27J Schools is committed to addressing all accessibility shortcomings before July 1, 2025, and will post quarterly progress reports where the public may also comment.
