Chat is the uniform tool for classroom communication that will be used by all 27J district-managed schools this year. Don't miss out, set up your Chat credentials today.

Follow these quick steps to setup your Chat account through the 27J Schools mobile app.

Download the 27J Schools mobile app on your smartphone.

Download for iOS or Download for Android
Send yourself a Password Reset email by clicking Set Up Your Chat Login. The email will contain your username and a link to set your password.

3. Once you've received your username and created your password, log into your account in the 27J Schools app.

Note for 27J employees: If you are also the parent/guardian of a 27J student, your account has already been activated. Use your staff OneLogin credentials to log into the app.

Chat Help for Families

I can't start a direct message with my child's teacher.

If you are unable to create a Direct Message or do not see any recipient results when searching for a teacher, please follow the steps below to create a new direct message with a teacher.
Note: These steps will allow you to create Direct Messages with any teachers who manage Chat Rooms of which you are a member. If you need to create a Direct Message with a school staff member who is not assigned to a Chat Room you're a member of, please reach out to communications@sd27j.net for assistance.

1. Open the Chat Room

From your list of Chat Rooms, find the Chat Room associated with the teacher you want to send a Direct Message to. Click on that Chat Room.

2. View the Chat Room details

Once inside a Chat Room, click on the Chat Room's name at the top of the screen to view that Chat Room's details, including the list of room members.

3. Select the teacher from the list of Chat Room members

In the Chat Room's details, you'll see a list of the room's Members. Scroll through the list to find the teacher you want to send a direct message to. Click the name of the teacher you want to message to view their profile.

Note: Staff members in the room will have a title below their name. There may be multiple staff within a Chat Room's member list.

Note: As a parent/guardian, you can create a Direct Message with school staff members but not with other parents/guardians. Staff can create messages with other staff and parents/guardians.

4. Create a new message

From the teacher's profile, click the Message button to begin a new direct message with the teacher.

5. You're done!

You should now be able to chat directly with your selected teacher.

I don't see an account setup email from 27J Schools

The account setup email for Chat will be sent to the email addresses on file for parents/guardians of 27J students in district-managed schools. You can also set up your Chat login credentials manually.

If your email address needs to be updated in Infinite Campus, email communications@sd27j.net or call 303-655-2810 for assistance.
If your email address is correct in Infinite Campus, but you did not receive the account setup email, you can set up your Chat login credentials manually.

I'm unable to set my password or my login information is not working

When you receive your account setup information, it will list your username for Chat and the 27J Schools mobile app. Make sure to use the same username listed in the email when setting up your password.

Once you have created your password, open the 27J Schools mobile app and enter your username and new password to log in and use Chat.

When opening the mobile app, it will prompt you to log in. You can click "Continue without Login" to view the app's News and Events feeds, but you will need to log into the app in order to access Chat.

I am in the app but do not see the Chat tab.

If you are in the app and seeing the tabs for Home, News and Events in the bottom toolbar, but not seeing the Chat icon, you will need to log into the app.

From the app's Home, News or Events screens, click the Gear icon in the upper-right corner of the screen and then select "Log In." On the login screen, enter the username from your account setup email and the password you created. You must follow the steps from the account setup email to create your password before logging into the app.

What's the difference between Direct Messages and Chat Rooms?

In your Chat portal, you'll see two categories of conversations, Direct Messages and Chat Rooms.

Direct Messages are designed for the parent(s)/guardian(s) and teacher of a student to talk to that student's learning experience. These conversations are personalized to a student. In Direct Messages, parents/guardians and teachers can ask questions and work together to support the student's learning needs.
Chat Rooms are group conversations through which teachers and school staff can share information with larger groups of parents/guardians. Chat Rooms are used for announcements and reminders. Follow-up conversations between a parent/guardian and the teacher can be started through Direct Messages.

When can I start messaging my child's teacher(s)?

All schools will begin using Chat by August 26. While Direct Messages within Chat are already fully available, you may see changes to the Chat Rooms available to you in Chat through the start of the school year as rosters are finalized in Infinite Campus and the 27J IT team finalizes the data being transferred from Infinite Campus to the Finalsite system.

If I message my child's teacher, how soon can I expect to hear back from them?

Chat is a great way for teachers and families to connect in support of student learning. Our teachers' top priority is teaching and supporting students, so responses to messages may take up to 1 school day.

Staff are not expected to communicate through Chat outside regular school hours.

This way, teachers can give their full attention to students in class and still have time to thoughtfully respond to families.

To access the complete mobile app experience, including Chat, families will receive an email with steps to set up an account. If you have not yet set up an account, you can proceed by clicking Continue without login. Login is required in order to use Chat.

Once you've received an account set up email from your school and completed the steps, enter your Username and then Password when prompted.

Select your language to the preferred language you'd like the app to display.

Choose schools: Subscribe to view the content of one or multiple schools. Toggle on to agree to view the content on your mobile app for a particular school.

Get notified: Decide the level of Notifications you'd like to receive on your mobile app. Select Allow notifications to opt in to notifications, another window will pop up where you can give permission to allow notifications. Select Not now to decline receiving notifications.

Swipe through recent news at the top.
Tap the title to read the full article.
Click the back arrow to return to the home screen.

Once you are logged in to your mobile app, find the Chats icon in the bottom toolbar. Click to open and start chatting!

Chat rooms you have been assigned to are in the top half of the screen. Chat rooms may populate and change over time, as class rosters are finalized at the start of the year or any changes are made to your child's class schedule.
Direct Messages are in the bottom half. These are private messages between families and teachers. Teachers and school staff may create a new Direct Message with you to discuss your child's learning. You are also able to create a Direct Message with teachers and staff to discuss your child's learning.
