Statement of Remediation of Inaccessible Financial Content
Prospectively producing a fully accessible, duplicate version of the Financial Plan and Budget and Comprehensive Annual Financial Report files at this time poses an excessively difficult and cumbersome burden for the 27J Finance Department. There are multiple contributors to the Financial Plan and Budget and Comprehensive Annual Financial Report files, none of whom possess the expertise, bandwidth, or technical support to markup the hundreds of contributory graphs, diagrams, explanatory images, and other documents for accessibility. Additionally, utilizing other, more accessible formats poses an unreasonable challenge for the financial department due to the inevitable and unacceptable accumulation or errors which would result from sharing hundreds of files between stakeholders. PDF is the accepted standard filetype for financial reporting material, and it is our judgement that the most practical course of action at this time is to promptly react to any requests for all or part of the Financial Plan and Budget and Comprehensive Annual Financial Report files by producing the source materials and working in good faith to ensure all members of the community can utilize any and all public records.
We acknowledge that this position is a stopgap strategy and want to emphasize this does not change our ongoing commitment to meeting and exceeding both the letter and spirit of HB21-1110, HB24-1454, and Section 508 of the ADA. We are developing new plans for document sharing to ensure future financial materials are prospectively developed using accessible tools and file types, and made available to the public in accordance with applicable local, state, and federal law.
