Ben Startzer

With nearly 20 years in education, Mr. Startzer has taught multiple levels of mathematics in the middle and high school levels (Algebra - AP Calculus).  He has also served as a administrator in Mesa County Schools and Cherry Creek School District.  With a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Minor in Mathematics, and a Masters Degree in Education, he aims to bring energy, enthusiasm, and real life application to the classroom.  Mr. Startzer is finishing his second Masters Degree, focusing on Coaching and Athletic Administration.

Coach Startzer serves as the Head Football Coach here at PVHS.  With over 20 years of coaching experience, including seven years experience in the college ranks (NJCAA and NCAA DII levels), and seven as an offensive or defensive coordinator in CHSAA's 5A, 4A, and 3A high school classifications.  Coach Startzer has had coaching stops at Colorado Mesa University, Regis Jesuit High School, Rifle High School, and Lutheran High School among others. 

Coach Startzer grew up on the western slope of Colorado.  Immediately upon graduating high school, Coach Startzer joined the U.S. Marine Corps, where he discovered his passion for coaching and developing student-athletes in the classroom and through football, wrestling, and baseball.  He and his wife, Mavie are very proud of their three children, Quinnie, Robbie, and Cade.
