• The CMAS (Colorado Measures of Academic Success) Assessments will be administered in the month of  April for students in grades 3 - 5.  The staff at Thimmig Elementary values the data received from these assessments.  The results from these assessments provide teachers with information that is used to make curricular and instructional decisions for grade levels, contents, and individual students.  Additionally, the achievement and growth score results from these assessments are used to determine a rating for our school.  Our current rating is “Performance”.  As a school this year, we have focused on providing high quality instruction to every student in every class to support their learning through unit planning and formative assessment. We strive to maintain the rating of “Performance” for the following school year.

You might be asking, “How can I help?”  Here are some things you can do to support your child and Thimmig Elementary:

    • Support your child in attending school on a regular basis as well as on assessment days.  The assessment schedule has been included for your reference.
    • Provide your child with a healthy breakfast.
    • Support your child in getting a good night sleep prior to assessment days.
    • Encourage your child to perform their best.
    • Discuss previous assessment results and help your child set goals about his/her performance for the upcoming school year.
    • Review sample test items with your child. Teachers will most likely do this in the classroom as well. Click on the link to direct you http://download.pearsonaccessnext.com/co/co-practicetest.html?links=1
