    Teacher Lead Learner/Math

Ms Jones (“Ms. J”) grew up in in Casper, Wyoming, and attended the University of Wyoming in Laramie, where she got her first Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Information Systems with a minor in accounting.  After working in that industry for a number of years, then staying home to raise her children for about ten years, she realized that her heart was in education.  She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Secondary Mathematics Education in 2011, and began teaching at the middle school level.  She began working at Horizon High School in 2013, teaching subjects from freshman math up to Trigonometry and Discrete Math.  She received her Master of Arts Degree in Learning and Technology in 2015.

Ms. J’s favorite part of teaching is connecting with her students and igniting in them an excitement for learning.

Ms. J has three children, one who is out of the nest working as a Mechanical Engineer, one a freshman at Front Range Community College, and one a senior at Horizon High School.  She enjoys working on her house, playing with her dog and cat, and hanging out with her children.  She can’t WAIT to meet the students at Riverdale Ridge!

    Math Learning Leader

Jordanne Blankenship is in her first year as a high school math teacher at Riverdale Ridge High School, and will begin her third year in School District 27J overall in 2018-19. Blankenship also spent two years in Denver Public Schools following graduation from the University of Denver with a degree in Mathematics in 2014, including a year as a high school math teacher at Denver North High School.

In her two years at her high school alma mater, Brighton, Blankenship taught algebra, geometry and a block class that is designed to complete algebra, geometry and algebra II in a two-year span.

Blankenship’s favorite part of the job is getting to know each of her students as an individual and meeting them where they are to help them succeed in reaching both their own personal and academic goals. Blankenship believes that math promotes necessary critical thinking and fosters problem solving skills and hopes her students grow to welcome productive struggle.

What excites Blankenship the most about Riverdale Ridge is the opportunity to build our community from the ground up with fantastic educators and students and each member making their own mark on the school. She is thrilled about continuously learning and growing together.

Following three years in Thornton, Blankenship, her husband Niko, her one year old daughter, Rylie, and her Australian Shepherd, Freya, are excited to be moving into a new home they are building in Lochbuie, Colo in September 2018. In her free time, Blankenship enjoys playing basketball, reading, and spending time outdoors with her family.
