Mr. Jason Komora
I spent the first two years of my teaching career in Ewa Beach, Hawaii and taught physical science in high school. In 2009, I moved to Colorado and was given the chance to teach and Vikan Middle School and loved every second of it! I taught 7th grade science for my first couple of years. Then I taught 6th and 7th grade science for a few years, before I moved to teaching 6th grade math and science for the past three years. I am passionate about both and I really enjoy helping students see the connections between both.
I really enjoy teaching 6th graders and I don't see myself as a teacher as much as I see myself as a coach. The players have to play the game and it is up to the coach to provide the feedback and experiences for the players to get better. I am on the same team as the students (and families) and I do everything in my power to help the students get better and reach whatever bar has been set. I love leading the 6th graders in the continuation of the journey that is math and science and I can't wait for them to come home with exclamation about what they did that day!
I am inspired to make the world better. I think we have some major problems to solve in the coming years, but I am inspired by the power of the collective human mind to come together and solve those problems. In order for us to solve them, we will need problem solvers (see what I did there), critical thinkers, people of integrity to make hard, but right, choices and cooperative adults. I want to be part of the solution and if I can inspire students to explore science or math beyond middle or high school, then I will be part of the solution.
