Meet Kim Russo
Degrees and Certifications:
My name is Kimberly Russo, and I love being surrounded by kids. I love teaching them, talking to them, laughing with them, and raising them, apparently, since I have four of my own.
This is my 3rd year at Vikan and my 20th year of teaching! Above all else, I want students to feel safe and welcome in my classroom (physical or virtual.) My secondary priority is for all students to learn and enjoy the process of learning. I hope to inspire not only proficient readers & writers but lovers of literature.
When I’m not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family. My husband, Tony, a math teacher, and I try to make a few trips a year to the mountain town of Gunnison to visit our son, Nick (a local mailman) & his wife, Steph, but mostly to see our adorable grandson, Doc. My daughter, Audrey, a high school social studies teacher, lives at home with us and our 12-year-old daughter, Maritza, and my middle daughter, Grace, a senior at UNC comes home about once a month. We like to hike, watch movies, and play board games together. During the summer, I love spending time in my backyard tending to the garden and feeding the birds and squirrels. (I still feed them in the winter!) No matter the season, I’m always reading a book or two and writing poetry & short stories.
*Also, I have two cats. I love cats.
I am so looking forward to getting to know you and your lovely children this year.
