    What is the mission of the 27J Education Foundation? 

    The mission of the 27J Education Foundation is to preserve, support and improve the educational opportunities within the community. The 27J Education Foundation provides opportunities for individuals and groups beyond what the school can offer

    Who is eligible to request assistance? 

    Schools or teachers within 27J Schools are eligible to apply for this grant. The 27J Education Foundation particularly encourages applications from teachers representing diverse groups within the district.

    How do I apply for this grant and what information must be included with the application? 

    A completed application and the required documentation must be submitted to the 27J Education Foundation for consideration. Submit the application and documents using this form. All documentation must be submitted at one time and must include: 

    1-page description of the proposed project including how you will address the mission of the 27J Education Foundation

    Timeline for implementing and completing the project. 

    Complete budget. Since we do not fully fund a project, indicate your other confirmed funding sources and the amount of each.

    Two letters of recommendation - one from a teacher and one from a community member. (Sample letters are available on the Foundation’s website for Scholarships and Grants.)

    When is the deadline for application submission? 

    Applications for classroom grants are accepted throughout the year.

    What are the funding requirements and criteria for consideration of funding? 

    All grants must address how the grant supports the mission of the 27J Education Foundation which is to preserve, support and improve the educational opportunities within the community. The Foundation does this by supporting and engaging students, teachers and community members so that they, in turn, can enrich others in the community. The 27J Education Foundation will not fund the same project in succeeding years. However, applicants may apply every other year

    Examples of funded grants: 

    • Grow towers for earth science activities.
    • Science laboratory equipment. 

    • Book bags to provide reading materials for parents and students to share at home

    • Outdoor education and leadership materials

    • Recess supplies such as balls, cones, jump ropes, etc. 

    • Elementary student book authors project materials.

    • Cost to have a guest artist/poet/scientist or other external expert to provide a unique student learning opportunity. 

    The 27J Education Foundation will not fund: 

    • Uniforms or costumes
    • Furnishings the school should provide such as tables, bookcases, chairs, desks, etc

    • Salaries, staff stipends or per diem expenses. 

    • Individual enrichment trips

    • Transportation, food or lodging.

    • Conference or seminar registration fees.

    If approved, the applicant must complete the project and submit to the Foundation a final report no later than one (1) month after project completion. Include in the final report who benefited from the project and how they benefited. Send the report including applicant’s name and school name to Foundation@sd27j.net.
