• New Member Applications Due April 8th.

    Attn: Sophomores and Juniors

    Are you interested in being a member of the National Honors Society?  If you are, please read  through this letter and see if you meet the membership requirements.  If you do, make sure you complete the Google Application Form.

    Membership recognizes and encourages students who demonstrate excellence in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, and character.  Membership is open to  all juniors and seniors, and is based on the following:

    • Scholarship: a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA;
    • Leadership & Character: student application and faculty recommendations are required for each candidate and are evaluated by a Faculty Selection Committee;
    • Service: students must demonstrate their participation in volunteer work with a min. of 10 hours prior to their application to NHS and then will be required to plan, lead, and participate in service projects both in and out of school every semester during their membership for which they can not be paid and will not earn class credit.
    • Character: Students must demonstrate trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship

    Students accepted for NHS are expected to perform a minimum of 10 hours of volunteer service each semester during their membership.  They are also expected to attend one meeting a month as well as the  meetings required for planning and executing service projects.  Failure to maintain entry-level criteria and participation requirements may result in revocation of membership.  All deadlines will be strictly enforced.

    We hope that you will take the time to complete the enclosed application and carefully consider what you can bring to National Honor Society. The application deadline is Friday, April 8th.

    Upon receipt of all applications, the RRHS NHS Faculty Selection Committee will convene to review all applications and determine your candidacy for acceptance into the RRHS National Honor Society. It is important that you represent your best self on the application and essay as these are essential in determining your membership. You will be notified of the committee’s decision no later than Friday, April 15th.  Our NHS Induction Ceremony will be the evening of April 20th.

    If you have any questions about this process, please feel free to email Ms. LaTerra at mlaterra@sd27j.net.    We look forward to receiving your application.
