Stephanie Kuhne MFA - Art Teacher
Degrees and Certifications:
Creating one’s vision, message and expression is the basis of my teaching. In a collaborative environment, students learn from within or from others. With guidance, they discover their identity and gain the motivation to become lifelong learners. I teach with enthusiastic passion for sharing knowledge, experience and techniques.
Projects are planned not only to feature a medium and its craft, but to teach a student to envision an idea stemming from his or her own artistic “voice.” To express oneself in this voice makes the project unique to each student and how the work relates to the viewer. Throughout school, the essence of “attention to detail,” “well-made” and “craftsmanship” are primary values that I foster. This attention to detail is pertinent to the effective communication of one’s vision and voice in creating art.
Artistic expression is a direct reflection of a person’s values, identity, experiences and aesthetics - It’s highly personal. My work tells stories of inspiration and exploration through the use of silver, metal, glass, resin, wood and other mixed-media materials. It reflects both historical and contemporary context through research and experimentation. Process and exploration are the muses in creating my work. I find inspiration, then reflect, research, and explore the possibilities of how to bring an idea to life. Moving backwards in my process, I work through my ideas in series format -exploring the many paths that I see.
There is so much to learn and experience. I hope to never stop learning, experiencing and sharing through teaching.
