Ms. Alicia Bañuelos
Welcome to third grade at North Elementary! This is my second year at North (teaching third grade both years) and the start of my 13th year of teaching. When I began my teaching career, I started out teaching full day kindergarten in Adams 14 (Commerce City schools) at Rosehill Elementary and then continued there with teaching first grade, which I absolutely loved. When my family moved into the 27J attendance area; however, I decided to apply for a kindergarten position at Pennock Elementary in 27J, thinking that if I got the position, then moving to 27J from Adams 14 was meant to be. It turned out that it WAS meant to be and I continued to teach kinder, first, and second grades at Pennock for the next 8 years. During that time, I also added to my teaching certification in Early Childhood Education with a minor in Special Education and obtained my Masters degree in Educational Equity & Cultural Diversity with an emphasis in Linguistically Diverse Education through the University of Colorado at Boulder. Two years ago, I found myself needing a change and wanting to work with the same population of kiddos I’d worked with at Rosehill, so I applied for and got a third grade position here at North - which has been the best career decision I’ve ever made. The families and students here are kind, respectful, hard-working, and just over all, amazing! I enjoy coming to work every day to see and be a part of your student’s life and help them become any and every thing they want to be! I love being a part of North and I hope you do too!
