I have been teaching since 2005, most of those in middle school language arts and social studies.

For me, teaching remains all about the story. We all have stories to tell and discover: those about our lives, those others write for us, and those we have yet to discover.

My teaching story focuses on guiding students while they explore the world around them. In middle school, I find great joy in helping students find their voice through skills as readers and writers. My major goals are to prove to students how they hold the power to question, critique, and understand what others write and even more power when they share their thinking with others. I hope to help them develop their own perspectives and gain confidence in that thinking.

At home, I share my own story with my big family right here in the Quist community. We spend time together riding motorcycles, playing on the water, and generally finding adventure. In quiet time, I practice what I preach by getting lost in reading.
