Degrees and Certifications:
Hello! My name is Kristin Simcox and I'm honored to be your child's teacher this year. I worked at Brantner from 2012-2017, and after living out-of-state for the past few years, I am beyond excited to be back! Brantner is such a special school, and I couldn't be happier to be back home and teaching 1st grade this year.
A little about me... I grew up in Michigan, and went to Knox College, a liberal arts college in Galesburg, IL. I earned my Masters degree from CU Boulder, and have a teaching endorsement in Linguistically Diverse Education. I have been teaching for 10 years, and have taught K, 1, 3, 4, 5 grades (all but second!) I love reading, learning and continually growing as a person and educator. Teaching has always been my dream job - there is something so magical about watching students evolve and grow as learners and thinkers. I feel so grateful that this is what I get to do every day.
I have 2 daughters, one of which is starting as a Bengal this year. My husband works as a school counselor at Riverdale Ridge HS, and we love getting to know the same students and families. As a family, we enjoy hiking in the mountains, spending time outside, playing music, reading and playing games.
