Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Carolin Gardner
I am so excited to have the opportunity to share your children with you. Teaching is my passion. I began my journey in education in La Junta, Colorado where I taught music, reading, and third grade. My family and I moved to Brighton 15 years ago, which is when I began my relationship with 27J schools. I have taught fifth grade, a literacy specials class, and am in my ninth year of teaching second grade. I possess a Masters degree in Educational Equity & Cultural Diversity Emphasis in Linguistically Diverse Education through the University of Colorado, Boulder. My undergrad was completed at Adams State College where I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Literacy and Elementary Education. Prior to entering education, I was working on a degree in Biology with a minor in Mathematics.
I am originally from Baunach, a small town in Germany, therefor I do speak German fluently. I love to watch World Cup soccer and am a fanatical Germany fan. My husband, Joe, a Colorado native has transformed me into a Broncos fan. Our children, Kyle, is in sales at Brighton Ford, and Megan, who is a Sophmore in college, also runs our Cold Stone Creamery in Brighton, have been my inspiration to continue to move forward in the world of education. My furry child, Toby, reminds me how important the simple things in life are. I love to ride my bike, golf, hike, travel, and, most of all, hang out with my family and friends.
My passion for teaching encompasses the profound belief that when you provoke a child's inner belief in themselves their talents and abilities come pouring out. In the words of William Butler Yeats, "Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire".
