All district personnel requesting maintenance or grounds work shall do so through their respective building principal or administrator who will submit a work order to either the maintenance or grounds department, as appropriate.

Once determining that the request should properly be handled by the maintenance department, the supervisor shall establish a priority for the request and schedule the necessary work required for its completion.

Requests submitted that are not within the normal repair, maintenance and preventive maintenance responsibilities of the maintenance department shall be performed only on a time-available basis at cost to the department requesting the work.

The maintenance supervisor and the grounds supervisor will be responsible, in their respective areas, to ensure proper repair, maintenance and preventive maintenance of all district equipment and facilities except where responsibility specifically lies elsewhere (such as school bus maintenance). At their discretion and within budgetary constraints, the supervisors may engage outside contractors to perform these repair and maintenance services but shall use district employees to the extent practicable.
