KE - Public Complaints: KE
- School-Community Relations: K
The Superintendent invites constructive suggestions and reactions to improve the quality of the schools from citizens provided that they are submitted through appropriate channels prior to receiving Superintendent attention. (See Supt Policy KE-E) Complaints and grievances should be handled and resolved, whenever possible, as close to their origin as possible. Written complaints must be signed in order for them to be reviewed by the superintendent, or his/her designee. The superintendent shall have final decision-making authority whether or not to meet with the individual(s) submitting the complaint.
If the action or decision of the superintendent is unacceptable to the petitioner, a signed, written request for a special hearing before the Board of Education may be filed.
Should the issue for which the petitioner is requesting a hearing before the Board of Education involve allegations related to the performance of an employee, such charges or complaints must be presented to the Superintendent or the Board of Education in writing with a copy to the individual charged.
The Board of Education shall have final decision-making authority whether or not to conduct the special hearing.
