Staff Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI): GBEE-R2

The purpose of this regulation is to protect staff, student, parent and 27J information and to direct staff on information that cannot be submitted to artificial intelligence applications/programs. For the purpose of this policy AI applications/programs includes Chat GPT, Gemini, Claude, Copilot, Apple AI, and other similar programs or applications.

27J employees and contractors shall not submit, store, or process in AI systems or tools the following: (1) personally identifiable information (PII); (2) protected health information (PHI); (3) District intellectual property; (4) District and school safety plans, information and protocols. 

District employees' use of AI shall comply with all applicable 27J internet and technology use policies, and comply with federal, state and local student privacy laws, including FERPA and the Colorado Student Data and Transparency Act.
