Student Demonstrations and Strikes: JIJ-R

Demonstrations which disrupt the orderly processes of education, invade the rights of others, or threaten the personal safety or property of students shall be dealt with in the following manner.

1. The principal or his designee will confer with the participants and encourage them to return to class.
2. The time missed from classes will be unexcused.
3. If damage occurs to school property, the parents will be expected to pay for such damage. Parents must be notified in writing.
4. Law enforcement will be notified of any walkout activities, including information about planned activities. Student walkouts be monitored, but students are will not be threatened with arrest or suspension/expulsion as long as the walkout is conducted in a peaceful and lawful manner.
5. Non-students will be requested to leave the school premises and, if they fail to do so, the legal authorities will be called and appropriate charges filed.
