Support Staff Additional Pay and Overtime: GDBC

The district shall determine which school district employees are subject to the minimum wage and overtime requirements in compliance with federal law (non-exempt, non-certified, “hourly” paid employees).
Classified and Hourly employees:
1) The District shall pay for time worked in compliance with Federal law. All hours worked shall be accurately recorded in the manner required by District procedures or as directed by the employee's supervisor. Work shall not be volunteered to the District.
2) Due to District needs, a supervisor may from time to time require employees to work additional hours and/or make work schedule changes. The supervisor will make all possible efforts to inform impacted employees at the soonest possible time.
3) All additional hours/overtime work shall require the advance approval of the employee's principal and/or other immediate supervisor.
4) Overtime shall be paid overtime at the rate of one and one-half times the regular rate of pay for hours worked in excess of 40 in any work week.
5) In lieu of overtime compensation non-exempt employees may receive compensatory time off at a rate not less than one and one-half hours for each hour of employment for which overtime compensation is required.
6) An employee shall be permitted to use compensatory time within the current pay period.

8) Rates For Supplementary Services: District employees who put in extra hours to supervise and/or serve community groups using school facilities shall be paid at the rate established by the Superintendent for such contract services. Any supplementary pay shall be in accordance with federal law.
