The requirements of any person driving a School District 27 J owned vehicle as a part of their job requirements include but are not limited to:

1. Possess a valid operator’s license

2. Be a minimum of 21 years of age

3. Annual motor vehicle record check

4. Annual CDE small vehicle written test

5. Shall meet qualification standards and insurance coverage as adopted by the local board of education/service provider

6. Current US Dept. of Transportation (DOT) physical not to exceed two years. Medical history shall be provided annually on CDE approved form. Any “yes” annotations shall require a doctor’s qualification.

7. A driving performance test shall be part of initial certification

8. Documentation of activity trip operator qualifications shall be maintained by the district/service provider

9. Must have and maintain a safe driving record. A safe driving record shall mean no more than 6 moving violation/infraction points as established by the Colorado Motor Vehicle Division in the last 3 years. Annual driving record checks shall be made by the Transportation Department

10. Must abstain from the use of drugs or alcohol on duty or at any time which would affect his/her ability to operate District-owned vehicles. If there is a reasonable suspicion of drug or alcohol use, he/she will be required to take a blood test. A positive test result shall be grounds for disciplinary action and/or dismissal.
