Family Welcome and Resource Center
The 27J Welcome Center welcomes students and families to ensure everyone has a sense of belongings and success in 27J.
Family Resource Center changing; not going away
The Family Resource Center (FRC) has lived inside the Brighton Learning and Resource Campus (BLARC) for the past two years offering weekly food pantry hours and clothing center appointments.
27J Schools recently agreed to a new partnership to lease space inside the BLARC for the 17th Judicial District Youth Resource and Assessment Center (YRAC).
The YRAC is designed to assess youth at risk and provide early, preventative support to young people and families before they reach a crisis point or become involved in serious or violent offenses. As part of the lease, the YRAC will occupy a part of the current FRC space beginning this fall.
At the same time, 27J is re-organizing some of its own family support systems, merging the services and staffing of the district’s Welcome Center with the Family Resource Center.

Family and Community Support
- Registration support for families who need extra support during registration.
- Orientation into 27J to ensure students and families have basic information and know what to expect in 27J schools (e.g. Free and reduced lunch, attendance, IC, parent portal and transportation).
- Language support to ensure families are communicated to in a language that they understand.
- Technology support to ensure students and families are set up for success with technology, such as Google, IC, etc.
- A bridge between families and schools.
Family Resources
27J is dedicated to supporting our community by offering gently used clothing for students and their younger siblings (ages 0-5), generously provided through our partnership with A Precious Child. We also provide access to our food bank, in collaboration with Food for Hope, for 27J families in need. The food bank is open every Monday from 2-5 p.m. by appointment. We're here to help ensure every family has the essentials they need in a caring and compassionate environment.
