27J Free Summer Breakfast and Lunch Program

Summer EBT Benefits

Summer EBT is a program that provides nutritious food to eligible students in the summer months when they are not in school. Students who may be eligible for Summer EBT include:

  • Those who qualify for free or reduced-price meals while attending a school participating in the National School Lunch Program or School Breakfast Program
  • Those who are receiving other assistance benefits, including SNAP and Colorado Works. You may qualify through Medicaid if your income is within the National School Lunch guidelines.

Summer Activities

Summer Camps at Boys and Girls Clubs 

The Boys and Girls Clubs of Metro Denver offer low-cost summer-long activities for K-12 kids including the Brighton location (Shopneck) and the Commerce City location (Suncor). Vist the link to register today.

Brighton Recreation Center

The Brighton Recreation Center offers opportunities for free access and discounts.

  • Children on Medicaid can receive free access. Interested, qualifying families - with proof of Medicaid - can apply in person at the rec center. In addition, once approved, kids can also participate in sports programs for half price. The city also offers a fee assistance program for individuals and families who qualify.   • Lochbuie residents can receive resident rates on annual memberships at the Brighton Rec Center. To access this discount, interested residents can visit the Lochbuie Town Hall and receive a letter to present at the recreation center.

Commerce City Recreation Centers

Commerce City residents can apply for discounts at their  local recreation centers (Bison Ridge & Eagle Point). The city’s Parks, Recreation and Golf Department offers scholarships that provide up to 50 percent off monthly memberships, 25 percent off annual memberships, and 50 percent off many programs.

Thornton Recreation Programs

The city of Thornton Recreation Division offers a Reduced Rate Assistance Plan (RRAP) for qualifying Thornton residents. Qualified recipients get a discounted fee for recreation programs and admittance to the following recreation facilities:

  • Trail Winds Recreation Center, 13495 Holly St.
  • Carpenter Recreation Center, 11151 Colorado Blvd.
  • Park Village Pool, 4051 Summit Grove Pkwy.
  • City Pool, 2141 E. 95th Ave.

Free Driver’s Education Course for qualifying families

Thanks to Drive Safe Colorado, teens eligible for SNAP benefits can now take the state’s full, 30-hour online driver’s education course at no cost.

Student must be enrolled in SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) to qualify for the free course. Offer is open to the first 1,000 students who apply who are over 14 1/2 years old.

27J Family Resource Center open through June

The 27J Family Resource Center, which offers a food bank and clothing center, will remain open on Mondays through the month of June. It will then close for July and re-opened Aug. 11.

Mental Health Resources

Community Reach Center

Community Reach Center is a nonprofit mental health organization serving Adams County and the north Denver metro area. They provide compassionate, personalized care for children, teens, adults, and families. Whether someone is feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or just needs someone to talk to, Community Reach Center offers support through services like individual and family therapy, group counseling, peer support, and school-based programs

IMatter Colorado

IMatter is a free program in Colorado that helps children and teens get access to mental health support. It offers up to 6 free therapy sessions with a licensed mental health professional, either online or in person.

The program is for youth ages 18 and under (or 21 and under if they’re receiving special education services), and no insurance or proof of income is required. Parents or caregivers can help younger children sign up, and teens 12 and older can sign up on their own.

Whether a young person is feeling stressed, anxious, sad, or just needs someone to talk to, I Matter is here to help.

Colorado Crisis Services

Colorado Crisis Services is a free, confidential support system available to all Coloradans, including children, teens, and families. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or just need someone to talk to, trained professionals are ready to listen and help—24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

In Need of School Supplies?

Families in need can receive a free backpack Saturday, Aug. 16 filled with school supplies to help kick off the new school year strong.
