Preschool in 27J Schools: A great Start for Our Youngest Learners
27J Schools is proud to offer high-quality preschool classrooms designed to help our youngest learners grow, explore, and thrive. Our preschool classrooms provide a safe, nurturing, academic and play-based environment where children build the essential skills they need for kindergarten and beyond. 27J preschool is open to families across our community, with options that support a variety of needs.

Alert: Due to Colorado UPK enrollment system, there are preschool seats open for four year olds across 27J, even at schools that appeared full earlier in the school year.
2026-2027 Universal Preschool Enrollment opens December 9, 2025.
Preschool Options:
Universal Preschool (UPK) - Available to all 4 year olds. Student must be 4 yrs old by Oct 1.
3 Yr Old Program (free) - A limited amount of state funded 3 year old seats are availalble if you have a qualifying risk factor. Student must be 3 yrs old by Oct 1 and cannot start until their 3rd birthday.

- Dual language Learner
- Foster Care
- Experiencing homelessness
3 Yr Old Tuition Program - Tuition slots will be offered if space is available. Families will be notified by July 30th if they received a tuition placement. Tuition is $4000 per year, collected in 10 installments ($400). Student must be 3 yrs old by Oct 1 and cannot start until their 3rd birthday.

There are several different preschool options available. Please choose the option below that best fits your needs to determine your next steps.
- Universal Preschool: My child is four years old and ready to register.
- 3 Year Old Program (free): My child will meet a qualifying risk factor and will be 3 yrs old by October 1, 2026
- 3 Year Tuition Program: My child will be 3 yrs old by October 1, 2026
- My child has an IEP and is transferring from another school.
- My child has an IEP and qualified through 27Js Child Find Department.
- I received a welcome letter from the 27J Preschool Department, what do I do now?
