Miss Danelle Dondelinger, Physical Education

Miss D is a 6th generation Colorado native. She attended Centaurus high school and lettered all 4 years in varsity soccer, softball, and basketball. Her love of athletics and learning continued when she got a soccer scholarship to play four years of college ball at CSU Pueblo(DII). There, she started and played every game all four years of her college career. She played in the RMAC championship twice as well as played in the NCAA tournament. While at CSU Pueblo Miss D earned her BS in Health and Exercise Science as well as a Minor in Leadership and Coaching. After graduating college in 4 years, Miss D was hired on as the RRHS Head Girls Varsity Soccer Coach. She fell in love with the Raven community, her girls, and the Nest. This inspired her to attain her BA in Secondary Education through CU Denver. Miss D is currently working on her Masters of Education in Health and Wellness. Miss D has a great passion for sports, exercise, fitness, and living a healthy lifestyle.

Mr. Ray Garza

Mr. Garza has been an educator as a teacher and coach in 27J since 200, 22 years total. Garza earned his Bachelor's degree from the University of Northern Colorado in 1994 and has a Masters of Art Education Administration and Supervision from the University of Phoenix (2013). Mr. Garza and his fiancé Danielle, their 4 daughters, Caylin, Dominique, Makenzie, and Lauren live in the Brighton area along with their family dog Kira. He has experience teaching Spanish, health and physical education grades K-12. He also coached Basketball and Football at the high school level. He currently teaches Physical Education classes, along with his duties as head baseball coach and head softball coach at Riverdale Ridge High School. He became a teacher because he wants to make a positive difference in the lives of children. He aspires to motivate them, challenge them to grow, and help them become happy, healthy, contributing members of society, so that they can become the person they want to be.

Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology at University of Northern Colorado (Go Bears!!) and earned her Masters degree in Education Leadership from Grand Canyon University.

Mrs. Deanne Romero, Health/Physical Education

Ms. Romero, a Colorado native, found passion in being physically active as a child.
She played softball, basketball, volleyball and even wrestling. Ms. Romero figured becoming a physical education and health teacher was the best way to motivate others in living a health enhancing life. She has been teaching physical education and health, at both middle school and high school levels since 2002; 11 years in St. Vrain Valley school district and 3 years in Adams 12. In 2015, Ms. Romero was named SHAPE CO Health Education Teacher of the Year, and in 2017, SHAPE America named her the Central District Health Education Teacher of the Year
Ms. Romero has passed on her love for physical activity to her own children and now enjoys watching them participate in a variety of ways. Her oldest son lives in Florida and is a college baseball umpire. Her youngest is busy with basketball and competitive baseball.

Master in the Art of Teaching and an Administrative Certificate

Mr. Wayne Voorhees

Mr. Voorhees started out teaching social studies/business and coaching various sports (football, basketball, baseball, track) at a few schools and after moving to Legacy for the next 18 years. During that time he started teaching PE for the last 8. He came to Riverdale Ridge as a PE teacher and Head Football coach in our inaugural year.

Mrs. Alyssa Wassel

Mrs. Wassell is a Colorado native. After graduating high school, she went to swim at Linfield College, while studying exercise science and physical education. She went on to get her Master’s Degree in Exercise Sport Science from Oregon State University. Mrs. Wassell began teaching in 2008, and has loved teaching various courses ever since. Mrs. Wassell started in 27J schools in 2014, and is excited to begin another fun year. In her free time, she loves to go to the gym, watch her two young boys play various sports, and spend time with other family and friends.
