Sal will continue in his role at Second Creek through the end of the 2018-19 school year and assume the role of Henderson principal on July 1.
"I am truly excited and honored to be joining a school community that has such a long and rich history in our community.,” said Sal Conca. “I am committed to working alongside the dedicated staff, students, and families at Henderson Elementary to ensure that we continue the amazing work that has already taken place and to push ourselves to reach new heights for our students and our community.”
Sal graduated from Metropolitan State College of Denver where he received his Bachelor's Degree in Hospitality & Business Administration. After working in the transportation industry for several years, he pursued his passion for teaching and received his Master's Degree in Education, Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in culturally and linguistically diverse education from the University of Denver.
Sal began his teaching career in the Adams 12 School District as a 1st, 2nd and 5th-grade teacher before obtaining his principal's license and a position as a Field Director with the Public Education and Business Coalition and the Boettcher Teacher Residency Program. There, he worked as a clinical instructor with Adams State University where he taught and coached adult students, transitioning from different careers, to become highly effective teachers. Sal is a Colorado native, growing up right here in Adams County. He attended Henderson Elementary, Vikan and Overland Trail Middle and is a proud Brighton High School graduate.
“In the short time Sal has been a member of the 27J team he has shown himself to be a competent, caring, and committed leader,” said 27J Schools Superintendent Dr. Chris Fiedler. “What makes his selection extra special is Sal’s personal history with Henderson Elementary. It is not often that someone has the opportunity to lead the school that gave them their academic start in life.”
