BRIGHTON, COLO. (April 7, 2020) – 27J Schools is proud to announce that Jennifer Alexander has been selected as principal of Innovations & Options, 27J’s alternative high school, for the 2020-2021 school year. Ms. Alexander is well known to the school community serving as assistant principal since 2015. She was selected from a talented candidate pool in a competitive process that included input and participation from Innovations & Options staff. Ms. Alexander will work with current Principal Kenlyn Newman to ensure a smooth transition in leadership and will officially start as principal on July 1, 2020.
Prior to joining 27J Schools, Ms. Alexander worked as an assistant principal in Weld RE-5J School District and Falcon School District in Colorado Springs.
“We are extremely proud of the direction and accomplishments of Innovations & Options and the incredible support and services provided to students through this school,” said 27J Chief Academic Officer, William Pierce. “We recognize the role and contributions that Jen Alexander has played in this school and have great confidence in her leadership going forward.”
Ms. Alexander grew up in northern Iowa and attended Iowa State University receiving a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. In 2002, she relocated to Colorado and continued her education earning a Master's Degree in Curriculum & Instruction from the University of Colorado Springs.
Ms. Alexander started her career in education as a high school math teacher, and moved into an assistant principal role in 2007. Through her experiences in these two programs, she helped build the district-wide credit recovery program. For the past five years, Ms. Alexander has served as the assistant principal at BOLT, Bridge, and Heritage Academies prior to the programs merging into Innovations & Options.
“In this unprecedented and uncertain time in our human history, I am humbled and honored to continue leading Innovations & Options into becoming a truly one-of-a-kind high school experience for our students,” said Ms. Alexander. “I am excited to be in a role that allows me to continue exploring ways to help each student see their true potential, believe in themselves, and build the best future they can imagine for themselves.”
