Tiger Tuesday News 

October 13, 2020 

Thank you so much for attending our student celebrations and parent-teacher conferences virtually yesterday. It was nice to be able to meet with families in this new environment. We appreciate all the hard work you do at home to keep our TIGERS engaged in their learning! The 1st quarter ends on October 21st, so it is crucial that students submit missing assignments and re-assess where needed. 

I also want to thank our families and caregivers for keeping health and safety as the priority. I appreciate you keeping your TIGER home when they show any COVID symptom. In maintaining this integrity, we’ve been able to keep all cohorts at school at PVMS! Can’t say it enough, THANK YOU!

Learning Environment Survey

In the first week of November we will be sending out a survey asking about the learning environment you will be choosing for your child for the 2nd semester. Please keep an eye out for that survey as it will provide us the information we need, to ensure we have appropriate staffing. Some thinking that that can be done in the meantime: 

Is my student having his / her academic needs met? 
Do we have adequate internet support for at home learning? 
Is my student having his / her social emotional needs met? 
Is my student performing similarly or better academically than they were at this time last year? 
If I could, what would I change about my student’s learning environment?


Assessment Calendar

Throughout the school year students complete different assessments that provide us with invaluable data that help us plan and adapt instruction to meet their needs. Information about the different assessments that students at PVMS will participate in for the 2020-21 school year, including testing window dates and purpose/use of different assessments can be found here:

Halloween Information 

On October 29th and October 30th, we would like to invite students to wear their costumes to school for the day. Students must keep our value of INTEGRITY in mind when wearing costumes to school. Learning is sacred at PVMS and students will be asked to change out of their costumes if disruptions occur during instruction or if they violate one or more of the following criteria: 



Costumes must follow our Student Dress Code Policy (Superintendent Policy JICA)
No masks or makeup that would conceal a student’s identity. 
No toy facsimile guns or fake weapons.
Costumes may not be overly graphic or promote violence.
Costumes must not make noise or include items that would disrupt the learning environment (sound effects, lights, etc.).
Costumes that are indecent or suggestive and violate our school’s dress code policy.
Students will still wear masks to support our layers of safety.

Parent Survey Update

As promised here is my reminder about engaging in our parent survey. As of this morning we have 224 completed surveys, out of a possible 645 surveys. We need this feedback from families because we are going to need to make changes at semester to ensure all student and family needs are being met. Please take 5-10 minutes to provide us this valuable information.
