PVMS Tiger News

March 3/16/2021

We hope that you have all stayed safe and warm through this weekend's blizzard! All 27J school and facilities will be open tomorrow, Wednesday, March 17. Online and in-person learning will continue as scheduled. PVMS will have a slow start tomorrow, allowing students to enter the building tomorrow starting at 9:45 so that we can hopefully reduce any major traffic issues.

Spring Parent Survey

Good News- There  is still time in the survey window to provide PVMS with feedback in the Spring PVMS parent survey.

Please help us improve by taking a few minutes to complete the survey linked below. The information collected in this survey helps us be more intentional as we plan for next year. Because we are not sure what next  year will bring any feedback we can gather from you at this point is critical for the planning process.  Last semester, we set the record for participation for this survey and the information helped in better serving students in the second semester. We are hoping to CRUSH the 60% survey completion this semester.

Lunch Cards

Please help our Nutrition team by reminding your Tiger to bring their lunch card to school and to the cafeteria with them. When students forget their cards it is more difficult to ensure social distancing and keeping the line moving quickly and safely.  If your child has misplaced their card, please purchase a new one. A replacement card is $5.00.

CMAS Testing

CMAS testing is scheduled to take place in April. These important state assessments measure students’ progress towards the Colorado Academic standards. Now more than ever, the results of this assessment will help us plan to best meet the needs of all PVMS Tigers. The Colorado State Legislature has introduced a bill that would reduce testing to only one subject per grade level. 6th and 8th graders would participate in the Math assessments and 7th graders would participate in the ELA assessments. For our in-person learners this would mean just two days of testing in April and for our virtual students, just one Monday in April.  We are waiting for further information from the state and will communicate that as we get it.

Device Overload

While we have been concerned for many years now about students’ potential over exposure to electronic devices, the need to monitor this has become even more important this year as they spend a significant amount of their school day learning online. Please take time to check in with your students about their computer and cell phone usage late at night and early in the morning. We are
