Tiger Tuesday News

November 30, 2021

Hello PVMS Families & Community,

Welcome back, Tigers! We hope that everyone had a fun and restful fall break. There are only three weeks left in the semester, but they are very important ones. Please check your student’s Infinite Campus portal to see what assignments they are missing and encourage them to get these in before the deadlines. Please also make sure your students have time and space to study for and relax before any upcoming assessments.

This Week’s Basketball Games

B Team - home
Please remember that all spectators are required to be masked at all times during indoor sporting events. Students are required to pay $2 to attend basketball games. Students accompanied by parents are free!

World’s Finest Chocolate Fundraiser - Money Still Owed

We are so grateful for our students that participated in our WFC fundraiser and helped us raise money for PVMS. We have 46 students that still owe a total of approximately $2,500! This is money that PVMS has earned, but won’t get to support our student programs. Emails have been sent to families of students that still owe. Cash or checks made out to Prairie View Middle School can be brought to the office. If you have questions about the money owed by your student, please contact Office Manager Leslie Nelson at

I Matter Program

This has been a challenging and stressful year (two years really) for our students. We wanted to share information about an awesome program called I Matter that offers 3 free behavioral health sessions for children 18 and younger that have mental health concerns.  After the 3 sessions, they will try to connect them with a counselor if they feel like they would benefit from more sessions. There is a link for both parents and youth so they can get resources either for themselves or their child. Below are the links so you can access the website or get materials like posters for your school or cards to hand out to students/parents. If you have any questions you can contact PVMS Nurse Emily Kramer at

COVID Testing

As more and more home test kits are becoming available in the community, please note that the school cannot accept these home test kit results per Tri-County Health Department. You can sign up to get a PCR test from COVID Check Colorado using this link. Please reach out to your schools site coordinator or district nurse if you have further questions or concerns. Thanks so much for your patience and grace with all the changes with COVID processes.

Required School Immunizations

All students are required to be in compliance with Colorado immunization laws in order to attend school or daycare. 27J Schools must comply with current laws for the 2021-2022 school year. No exceptions will be made for non-compliance. Students will not be allowed to attend school, if we do not have an up-to-date immunization record or a current signed medical or personal exemption. The deadline for compliance has been extended to Friday, December 3rd. We have been reach out directly to families of students that are not in compliance.

For the 2021-2022 school year, the requirements for submitting a personal, non-medical vaccine exemption are changing.

To opt out of any state-required vaccines, you will need to either 1) have the exemption signed by a medical care provider OR 2) complete the online module, print the certificate, and submit it with your signed exemption.
Here is the link to the state website page that outlines the new law and process. The link to the outline module is at the bottom of the page.

A reminder that students are responsible for their Chromebooks at all times! Students should not leave Chromebooks outside at recess or in the cafeteria unattended. The replacement fee for a lost Chromebook is $260!

Submit Photos for the Yearbook!

Do you have great photos from the 21-22 school year!?! Please share with our yearbook advisor Catherine Davies at

A reminder that students are responsible for coming to school with their own masks. We do not have the supply to keep this up. We will begin calling home for students that arrive at school without a mask or that we are having to provide masks to frequently.

Please also remind your student that their mask must cover both their mouth AND nose. We have many students wearing them under their nose despite repeated reminders. Please expect a phone call home if this behavior continues. If students are habitually attending school without a mask or continue to receive reminders about proper mask usage, a switch to the 27 J online school will be recommended.

COVID Reminders

Exposure: Families can follow COVID cases and quarantines on our district dashboard. The PVMS exposure list can be found here. Please review this list regularly to see if there was an exposure in one of your student’s classes.

Absences & Classwork: If your student is absent due to an exposure or illness, they are still responsible for their school work. All assignments will be available asynchronously in Google Classroom. If your student has a documented/reported illness, they will be given additional time to make up missed work. If your student is quarantined as precaution, they will not be given extra days and are required to keep up with the classwork asynchronously. Teachers are available via email for support and students can expect responses from them within 24 hours.

Health Screening: Families play an essential role in keeping PVMS safe and healthy. If your Tiger has signs/symptoms of illness, has received a COVID-19 test and is awaiting results, or has had a positive COVID-19 test in the last 14 days you should fill out this form. Each form is school specific.  Please keep your child home until you have heard from your school via email or phone call.
