Back-to-School Night Open House

Please join us TONIGHT, Tuesday, August 9th from 4:30 - 6:30 PM for our annual back-to-school open house. This is an opportunity for you to visit PVMS, review your student’s schedules, and meet their teachers.

Parent Meetings

To make sure that the entire PVMS community has clarity on expectations, the purpose of PVMS systems and structures, and knowledge of important 27J policies, we are going to hold mandatory parent meetings prior to the start of school. Students are highly encouraged to attend with their parents. We have scheduled meetings for various dates and times in order to accommodate families’ busy schedules. All meetings will be held at PVMS in our main gym. There is only one meeting option remaining and it is tonight after Back-to-School night at 6:30 PM.

Lockers

6th and 7th grade students will begin the year with lockers. 8th graders will have the opportunity to earn lockers. Details on this will be shared with 8th graders and their families in the coming days.

We are still working on changing locker combinations. They will be ready for student use starting Thursday, August 11th. Students should NOT bring school supplies to Back-to-School night or 6th grade orientation.

6th Grade Orientation

Our school participates in the nationwide WEB Program, an organization whose sole purpose is to help sixth graders feel more comfortable as well as help them achieve success in their first year of middle school. Our WEB Orientation will be TOMORROW, August 10th.

The WEB sixth grade orientation and transition program is designed to both welcome and support sixth graders by assigning them an 8th grade WEB Leader as a mentor during this first year. This WEB Leader is a responsible older student who was hand selected from a large pool of applicants and has met the qualifications of being a good role model and a positive leader on our campus.

Below is some information to let you know what you and your student can expect in advance of their first day of school.

Because the day is active, please make sure that your child wears comfortable clothing that does not restrict movement.  Please do not bring all of your school supplies on Wednesday.  You will not need any supplies on your orientation day.  Just bring a water bottle and your lunch if you are bringing one from home.  You will bring all of your school supplies on Thursday, August 11th!

This is a student only function so we encourage you to let your child attend on her or his own. Our WEB leaders and staff have been working tirelessly to provide the best transition experience for your student.  Thank you for trusting us with your child’s education.

Bus and cafeteria service will be available starting this day.

First Day of School

This Thursday, August 11th is the first full day of school for all students. School hours are 8:30 AM to 4:32 PM.

Student Schedules

Student schedules are available in Infinite Campus. These schedules are still subject to change as we enroll new students and work to balance class sizes.

We do our best to provide some choice to students for electives, but cannot accommodate all requests. Please keep in mind that middle school electives are an opportunity for students to explore new and different interests and activities.

Questions regarding schedules should be directed to your child’s grade level counselor:

6th grade - Catie Riessen - Criessen@sd27j.net

7th grade - Elizabeth Gouveia - Egouveia@sd27j.net

8th grade - Melissa Nelson - Mnelson@sd27j.net

If you need access to the parent portal in IC, please contact our registrar, Araceli Mota, at: amota@sd27j.net or 720-685-5407.

Athletics

If your student is interested in playing a sport at ANY point this school year please make sure that your student has an updated physical. The sooner you get this completed the easier it will be when it comes to registering your student for athletics.

7th and 8th grade students can play any sport, whereas 6th graders can ONLY play soccer, run track, or wrestle. All of which happen after winter break.

Please use the following link to register your student for either football or volleyball https://forms.gle/XtkD2efy7VdHzSDj6

We are capping volleyball to 40 girls total, so please register, turn in a physical, and pay the fee as soon as possible.
