11-30-2020 PVHS Community Update:  Details for Remote Learning 12-1-2020 to 1-8-2021

Hello Thunderhawks,

We welcome back students tomorrow to a fully virtual setting during the window of December 1, 2020 - January 11, 2021.  We will complete Quarter 2 on December 17th (Advisory and Office Hours on December 18th) and begin Quarter 3 on January 5th, 2021. Students will continue to learn NEW grade-level content during this time and are expected to be fully engaged in all their classes.   Grades and credit will continue to be earned during this time and it is essential that all students continue to work towards graduation requirements.  We encourage parents to help your student be successful by setting up a quiet work space where they can learn uninterrupted from 8:30 am-2:15 pm on the days they are to be engaging in synchronous learning.  All students will be expected to attend their scheduled class times.  During asynchronous days where students are not required to attend virtual classes they are still expected to be working on assignments, projects etc.  Asynchronous days are not a day off for students but rather a day to complete assignments and demonstrate understandings towards concepts taught in classes.

Bell Schedule and Cohorts for all Students:

All students are expected to attend virtually for all of their scheduled classes.  The schedule will require all students to attend their classes for synchronous learning on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Students who were In-Person learners prior to the shift to our Virtual Schedule will still be required to attend virtual classes during their assigned Cohort Group time on Wednesdays and Fridays.  Students who were virtual prior to the shift to our Virtual Schedule have been assigned a time to attend in a small Cohort Group on Wednesdays or Fridays as well.  Teachers have assigned these students to a group and expect students to attend virtually on either Wednesdays or Fridays.  Students need to communicate with their teachers about any conflicts they may have with their assigned time.  Attendance will be taken for all students three days a week.  Please see the PVHS All Virtual 2020 Daily Bell Schedule for class times.

Communication and Contacts for Support:

As always communication is key for the success of our students.  Students and parents please continue to engage with your teachers with any needed support or questions you may have about particular class aspects, expectations, attendance and class times.  The school will be open for communication Tuesdays-Fridays 9:00-4:00. If you need anything please call our main office at 303-655-8800 or email the following people directly for support.  Specific teachers will contact students to pick up needed materials for certain classes and let them know how to get those materials.  More information to come in those specific classes.

Nutrition Services:

Nutrition Services Update: On Tuesdays, December 1-15th the district will be providing breakfast and lunch for all students for free. Distribution will be at PVHS, BHS, and RRHS.  Six breakfast and six lunch meals per student will be distributed.  Distribution hours are 11:30am-1:00pm every Tuesday, December 1st, 8th, 15th and January 5th.Lunches are free to all students pre K to 12th grade.  Sign up online at: https://forms.gle/P3tUMxyd14zsDwMX7.Distribution logistics subject to change based on demand.  For more information please see the 27J Nutrition Services site https://www.sd27j.org/Page/11803.

Tech Support for PVHS Students:

As we move towards remote learning the district will be putting out guidelines about how students can get assistance. There will be a rotation of In-Person assistance sessions at various 27J locations. We want to emphasize this should only be for instances where all other tech support has been tried first. 

The best and easiest way for PVHS students to get support, is to either email helpdesk@sd27j.net with all of their information. They should include their Chromebook serial number, any error messages, screenshots, and their contact information. This will help our team to get them support in a timely manner. Teachers will refer all students to email straight to helpdesk@sd27j.net and it will automatically create a ticket for our team to help them.  We plan on supporting all PVHS students at the school. In the event you are not able to make it to PVHS for technical support needs please see the schedule below with District Tech support at the various locations below.
