Kevin Purfurst selected to lead Elementary School #13

27J Schools is proud to announce the selection of Kevin Purfurst as the new principal of Elementary School #13. Kevin currently serves as assistant principal at Prairie View Middle.

I'm honored and excited to have the opportunity to work with the students and families that will join us at this new elementary school,” said Kevin Purfurst. “My goal is to work tirelessly with students, families, staff, and community members to create a school we can all be proud of.”

Kevin is a Colorado native and lifelong resident. He is a summa cum laude graduate of the University of Colorado with a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science. Upon graduation, he began work on a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in culturally and linguistically diverse education.

Kevin spent his first two years in education teaching language arts and social studies at West High School in Denver Public. He began his teaching career in 27J schools at Prairie View High School in 2012. In his time at Prairie View High school, he served as a social studies teacher, student leadership adviser, and instructional coach for school climate and culture.

In January of 2017, Kevin became the assistant principal at Prairie View Middle School (PVMS). His work at PVMS is focused on providing high-quality professional learning and coaching for teachers.

“Kevin has proven himself to be an outstanding team player and district leader,” said 27J Schools Superintendent Dr. Chris Fiedler. “We look forward to breaking ground on our newest elementary school and working with Kevin to ensure he has all the support he needs to be successful.”

Kevin will continue in his role as the assistant principal at Prairie View Middle through the end of the 2018-19 school-year. During the 2019-20 school-year he will maintain an office at 27J Schools’ Educational Service Center until construction on Elementary School #13 is complete.

Elementary School #13 is the final school to be constructed from funds associated with the bond passed by voters in 2015. Land for this new elementary school is located in the Brighton Crossings subdivision, north of the King Soopers Shopping Center. Elementary School #13 will be constructed as a prototype building of Reunion Elementary. Construction begins this spring with the school scheduled to open in 2020.
