North Elementary veteran teacher, Mr. Owens, exposed his 5th-grade class to the inner workings of the restaurant industry during a tour of Old Chicago Pizza in Prairie View Center. Students had the opportunity to tour the kitchen and learn about food storage and prep, equipment used, and safety procedures.
After the tour, students made their own personal pan pizza to enjoy. Many students raised their hands when asked, "Who is interested in becoming a chef or pursuing a career in the food & hospitality industry?"
Students were not only impressed with the kitchen set-up, but that employees arrive early to work early in the morning in order to get food prepped for the lunch and dinner crowd.
Old Chicago Pizza has been an outstanding community partner to 27J Schools since it opened two years ago. Currently, the Brighton location is the #1 Chicago Pizza in Colorado! They clearly are doing everything right.
