Southlawn Elementary's 5th graders will be participating in a district-wide track and field event at Brighton High School on May 4th. Each student will select four events and participate throughout the day. The meet will take place from 9:30 a.m to 2:00 p.m. Coach Cam and the 5th Grade teachers sent home this information, but just in case you missed it, please click on the image to the upper left of this article for the order of events (and approximate times of events).

Hey, Southlawn parents! We are very excited about our upcoming Field Day that will take place on Friday, May 12th! This event will be a wonderful opportunity for the students and their families to come together and experience some high energy and exciting activities! Please read the attached note from Coach Lowrimore. Important note: since this is a school-wide event and will require a lot of parent volunteers to make the day a success, we are expecting a parking lot filled to capacity. Please carpool if possible. Also, we are asking for parent volunteers. Please check out the Sign Up Genius and sign up for one of the morning (8:30-11:30) or afternoon (12:00-3:20) events.

End of School. Just a quick reminder that we have five (5) weeks remaining in this school year. The last day of school is the end of May. Our student's last days are:

Kindergarten: May 24th - immediately following the 9 AM Kindergarten graduation ceremony

Grades 1-4: May 25th (3:30 PM)

5th Grade: May 24th - immediately following the 6 PM continuation ceremony

Attendance. Attendance for all students is still very important. Please make sure your student arrives on time and is present every day!

Student Fees. Parents, please be sure your student’s fees are paid in full before the end of the school year. Each student (Grades K-5) is required to pay the following fees:

· $10 Class Fee (student planner and consumables)

· $30 Technology Fee (use of the Chromebook)

· $25 Licensing Fee (general licensing fee)

Please log into your Parent Portal account to ensure your student’s account is current. Brighton School District’s Student Fee Policy states “students who have not paid and are not current with their fee account will not be allowed to participate in any extra-curricular activities or purchase a yearbook until ALL outstanding fees are paid. This will include classroom parties and field day.”

Can you believe we have five weeks remaining in this school year?

For families of our Kindergarten and 5th grade students: mark your calendar for May 24th! We will be commemorating the end of the school year with a celebration for both our Kindergarten students as well as our Fifth Grade Students.

The Kindergarten celebration will take place at 9 AM and our Fifth Grade continuation will take place that evening at 6 PM.

Both celebrations will take place in our gymnasium. Just a quick note: in order to remain in compliance with the fire code, we will be limiting the number of friends/family members for this event to four (4) per family. More information will be coming as the plans are just now being made.
