27J Schools Superintendent Chris Fiedler recently announced that Kristin Hanson-Hofmann has been named the district’s new special education director.

"27J Schools is lucky to have a leader like Kristin who is ready to step into the director role,” Deputy Superintendent Will Pierce said. “She has a 13-year investment in this district and our special education department.”  

As 27J Schools’ Special Education Director, Hanson-Hofmann will be responsible for the leadership, supervision, guidance and support for all school support staff providing services to students with disabilities across special groups of students, including preschool. She’ll also ensure the district provides special education services according to state and federal laws.

Hanson-Hofmann came to 27J Schools in 2010 as a special education coordinator. In 2018, she was promoted to assistant director of special education and served in various leadership capacities in the district. 

Starting her college studies in Kansas, she earned her bachelor's degree in psychology from Fort Hays State University. She went to Emporia State University to earn her masters of science in school psychology and her education specialist degree in school psychology. Hanson-Hofmann earned her special education director's license credentials from the University of Northern Colorado.

“As a long-time member of the district’s staff, Kristin knows our incredible people,” Pierce said. “She knows our past, and we are counting on her to continue to improve the services for our special education students into the future."
